What to do in simon’s town
Reaching back to around 1650, Simon’s Town boasts a wealth of historic and strategic interest and has been a naval base and harbour for more than two centuries. A treasure trove of beautifully preserved buildings, a colourful military past and a rich and culturally diverse heritage are yours to explore.
Hiking Trails
Explore the Cape Peninsula by foot and hike up Admiral’s Waterfall, Silvermine, Porcupine Ridge, Elsie’s Peak or Jonkersdam Hiking Trail. Table Mountain and Lion’s Head are only a short hour-long drive into Cape Town should you wish to hike the iconic peaks of the Western Cape.
Boat Charters
The Simon’s Town harbour has many boat charters to choose from. The charters offer whale watching (in season), dolphin spotting, cruises to the unique Seal Island or the iconic Cape Point. Some charters offer offshore fishing, inshore fishing, film shoots, or even adrenaline trips.
Water Activities
Long Beach and Seaforth Beach are both in close proximity should you wish to take a walk along the beach, or take a dip in the ocean. Simon’s Town also offers fun and explorative sailing, diving, shark cage diving, surfing, kayaking, pedalboarding and paddleboarding adventures.

Iconic Landmarks
A visit to the World famous Boulders Beach Penguin Colony is not to be missed. Also worthwhile is a trip around the South African Naval Museum to view collections related to the maritime history of the South African Navy.
